The Owners: Vera & Vladimir Kosarev
Fred Astaire Dance Studio of Coral Gables opened its doors in June 2011 and is owned and operated by World Master Ballroom Champions, Vera and Vladimir Kosarev.
Vera and Vladimir, both from Russia, met in 2001 Rochester, New York. They were both professional ballroom dancers and competed nationally with different partners. When not competing, they both taught ballroom dancing at Fred Astaire Dance Studios in New York. As fate would have it, a studio dance showcase was coming up and neither one of their partners was available to dance, leaving them no choice but to dance with each other. This twist of fate led them to a professional partnership that inevitably led to love and in 2007 Vera & Vladimir tied the knot. Their love of dance and love for each other is evident every time they step onto the dance floor and, as a result, has earned them many accolades.
Throughout their competitive career, Vera and Vladimir have earned many prestigious titles including:
- Two Time World Masters Smooth Champions
- United States National Nine Dance Finalists
- Fred Astaire World Champions
- Two Time National Fred Astaire Champions
They have also been included in many finals including: Capital Dancesport Championship, Embassy Ball Dancesport Championship, Emerald Ball Dancesport Championship, Heritage Classic, Manhattan Dancesport Championship, and the United States National Championships.
In addition, they have accumulated numerous Top Teacher awards from the Fred Astaire Organization and Vladimir has also won various Pro/Am Titles with his students, including National and World Championships.
Love of dance wasn’t the only thing that the couple had in common, however. Both Vera and Vladimir always dreamed of owning their own dance studio. They had both worked at Fred Astaire for years and knew that the Franchise offered superior dance instruction, so naturally, when they were ready to open a studio, they chose to partner with Fred Astaire. Their due diligence led them to a city that they knew was vibrant and exciting and had potential – Coral Gables. Although they knew no one in Florida, the young couple packed up all of their belongings and moved down to “The City Beautiful” to open Fred Astaire Dance Studio of Coral Gables in June 2011. In a very short period of time, the studio has thrived and attracted students of all ages and dance experiences.
Fred Astaire Coral Gables offers a variety of dance instruction to all ages and abilities – from Ballroom, Salsa and Social dancing to Wedding Dance Lessons. The studio offers private instruction, group instruction and practice lessons and is a wonderful venue for everyone to share the experience of dancing with their colleagues and friends. And who knows, like Vera and Vladimir, you may also find love on the dance floor.
